Welcome to the Nepal Cultural Society of British Columbia, a community organization of Nepalis & friends of Nepal in B.C., Canada. The history of Nepalis in B.C. is relatively new; they began immigrating to B.C. in the early 1980s for a better quality of life and opportunities. Until early 2000s, there were a handful of Nepalis in B.C.; today we boast a solid force of over 800.
The Nepal Cultural Society of BC, NCSBC, was established in 1998 with the purpose of helping our fellow community members build their future while cultivating our unique culture and history. From its humble beginning in 1998, today NCSBC has become a common forum for sharing ideas and information among us. It has done a remarkable job in helping our fellow members integrate with the Canadian society while cultivating a sense of Nepaliness among us and our future generations. The society runs interaction forums and summer language classes and at the same time celebrates Dashain and other cultural events on a timely basis. We believe that we as a community have done remarkably well in all the fronts from building our own lives more prosperous and cultivating our ancient culture to significantly contributing to the economy of B.C. From the footsteps of mighty Himalayas to the mountains of B.C., we have come a long way; we are proud of what we have achieved today as we strive for a better future tomorrow.
